Inspiration:
Inspired by the complete chaos and unpredictability of this time we’ve lived through.
This series of abstracts encapsulates the madness, confusion and messy emotions that have come with the impact of Covid-19 and living in lockdown.
Using a roller and palette knife to apply the paint, the pieces are layered and textured. Each piece has soft and bold areas of paint application. For me, this contrast symbolises the ups and downs and the positives and negatives we’ve experienced since March 2020.
During this time, my thoughts have been with the vulnerable children in the UK’s society who have been without the support and the safety net of education. I recently read that the NSPCC received 8,287 contacts in May regarding concerns for the wellbeing of a child. It’s the highest number made to the NSPCC helpline in a single month on record.
It’s been, and continues to be, a tough time for the most vulnerable children in society. Therefore, I’ll be donating £10 of each piece from this series to support the continued work of NSPCC. They’re now calling on the government to urgently commit to a children’s recovery plan which you can read more about on their website.
